"...a first class shit"

Usually I'm a total reactionary about art installations. I get on the seriously pissed off resentful side of apoplectic about them. All sorts of culture class rationality issues,...but never mind. Sometimes one shows up I like.
That Jeff Koons inflated silvery ballerina is one of them. This at Rockefeller Center. Yeah he stole the idea from some Ukrainian guy, but hey.

As per my post below about artists being an exclusive lackies of the rich caste. Excluding everyone, but official in the club assholes. Yeah that Koons guy is a first class shit, but a smart shit. Also credit should be given to the 'real' artists that crafted...with their hands made that big shiny gal.

They gets no mention in all the ink liquid, and digital that's been spilled about that sliver lady.

Here's to ya Comrades!

A frigging job well done! That, and I hope that Ukrainian guy sues the bleeping hell out of that Koons rip-off  "artist!"

Venceremos!

Here's some really severe art criticism by a commie called Andre Vltchek:

http://www.counterpunch.org/2013/02/15/western-art-is-barking-at-china/

And he's even more stern in this one:

http://www.counterpunch.org/2014/03/21/shameful-cowardly-european-art/

Not that agree with all he says by any means, but I do like the way he slams the (art) establishment, and shows it the contempt it truly deserves.

If I were Emperor I'd go serious Joe Stalin on them guys,...enjoying every moment of it too. As with every good vengeance trip,...for me it's personal.

On the other hand the piece about the suspiciously free radical art in China is built on bloody sand. Those fuckers shoot people, and imprison almost the same percentage as we do. Yeah their art is more on the ball,...for how long?

Kudos to them cool cats while they can still work.

Perhaps to the Chinese they'll allow artistic freedom up to a point. As long as it does not cross assorted invisible lines. Much as here. You can protest all ya likes as long as it's useless, and ineffectual. If someone comes with something that works...for real works towards actual change. They'll be found face down in a flooded ditch in the morning.

Exactly! That's why the Burning Man phenom is permitted: because it burns up lots of creative energy that ought to go into changing society for the better, while giving participants the illusion that this activity expresses their freedom. If they put that same energy into building houses for the homeless on disused public land, the tolerance would end damn fast. Just ask the people with Food Not Bombs, who've often been arrested for feeding the homeless in SFO.

Yeah, I kinda have mixed feelings about Mr. Vltchek's writings. I get the impression he's a decent guy who really cares about people, but for ideological reasons is too willing to look the other way when people & states he supports (those opposed to the the USA & western imperialism generally) do stuff that won't stand the light of day.

It's been said that Marxism is a religion & a heresy on Christianity in which the dictatorship of the proletariat takes the place of the kingdom of heaven. That's about the way it looks to me. What I favor is milquetoast socialism, taxing the rich in a nice way for their own good and everybody else's, left the rest of us rise up and cut off their fucking heads.
