"Proceedings"

For some time while convalescing from surgeries...good grief! I've been watching cat videos, and doucs on paper clips. That, and not looked with any detail on the madness, and mayhem of national politics. Till today.

Holy Bleep!
It's Watergate again for real. The only difference is unlike Nixon our guy Trump admits to all his crimes, and has dared anyone to do something about it. The republicans will not since he gives them the opportunity to loot the country. Only the Courts... seem to stand up to him the only branch of government still functioning.
I think I'll disconnect for another month or so, and see what happens in summer. By then perhaps like everyone else I'll pass the time watching the "Impeachment Proceedings".

All this just to get President Pence.

Btw my Mom was a *Colored "Rosy the Riveter" during WW2. Just above "Barbie" is a model of a Navy F4F "Wildcat" she built these, and later "Hellcats" out at Grumman.

*FDR signed an executive order,...back when these were respected. He signed an order making 'any' company doing "Essential War Work" for the Federal government employ regardless of race religion or color. So my Mom got the job.

The sending of troops, and the integration of "Little Rock High School" in the 1950's was also an Executive Order. This by President Eisenhower.

There was a time when such orders were extraordinary. Rarely done. Only done in the name of a national crisis. That as opposed to done by the dozen for partisan expediency.

'Be back later.

Danger Will Robinson! Washington is a freak show, the most sinister clown circus since Caligula; and never forget BOTH sides are full of shit: they make Nero look like a genius and a humanitarian. Paying attention just encourages them.

FDR was a mixed bag. What he did to Japanese Americans was profoundly unjust; yet he signed the executive order you've mentioned (which I never knew about til now). He was one of the greatest presidents the U.S. has ever had - no Social Security without him - yet he was also a war criminal; when he and Churchill got together, the plotted the destruction of Nuremberg: thousands of children burned alive. History's a complex affair; sometimes good and evil can be clearly delineated, sometimes the shades of grey are tricky to parse.

Correction: not Nuremberg: Dresden. I know a guy who was a small child there then, and was spirited out of there by his mother and grandmother just in time that night. As a five-year-old, he witnessed the destruction of the city from a barely-safe distance. If they hadn't lived near the edge of town, they'd have been incinerated. They endured a long period of hardship - malnutrition and exposure to the elements - thereafter, and wound up in this country some years later.

I'd comment, but am too busy, and confused coughing my guts out for something as complex as your sweet postings.

I'll get to all this in a day or two.
