I've read that they're designing, and now building schools with safety areas. The equivalent of slit trenches on the wartime battlefield. These that the kids can jump into or lock themselves away in at a moments notice. 

This is making an accommodation to our crisis not dealing with it. This sez the killings will never stop so here's a way to cut the KIA rate. 

I found the following on a leaflet in the park. I corrected the grammar spelling re-wrote for clarity, and edited out the more nutty portions. It follows,...

Disarm the American population in possession of automatic arms. Foreclose, and confiscate all arms stores that specialize in the arming of extreme portions of the population,...and lone crazies. Arrest the proprietors distributers on charges of murder in the first degree. The death sentence where appropriate,...the same for NRA administrators, and related parties.

Near 20,000 persons are murdered in this country every year. The number killed during these disarmament exercises could be 3000 individuals on both sides.

In terms of low intensity warfare these causalities are more than reasonable. Possibly 3000 dead during fire fights with organized militias informal armed groups, and hostile individuals around the country. That vs the now 20,000.

Of course a possible post-disarmament insurgency in remote areas. This would add an additional 400+ dead over several years.
Mass shootings, and acts of far-right or extremist terror would end.

Which I nearly did this afternoon here in the Emerald City. 'Got an email from the library wanting some stuff back. Yeah I figured I'd get around to it. Anyway they send you shit a day or two before due date.

So off I went.

The sun was high it was profoundly humid, and at or near 90f. As it's been all month. Bleep it I thought. I was going out for more peaches anyway. The library doors being wide open, and there being no one inside were bad signs.

The Climate Control blew out. 'was 250f in there. Had been I was told since the weekend. They were waiting for a City crew to come. ...good luck. However a few brave librarians remained at their sweaty posts. 
There ready to help anyone dumb enough,...like me, to enter that oven. 

Bless Librarians.

Bless fruit stores too. Especially in summer. Us senior citizens would hardly eat without them. Swell stuff, and all priced to go. I got a nice bag of peaches some peanuts seltzer, and went out into the inferno.

This was a mistake.

Once again I forgot to bring water, and once again heat exhaustion crept in. I had planned to rest at the library,...it being a heat shelter, and all. However that didn't pan out. So four long,...very long Parkway blocks in the very scary sun. 

The air literally steam. 
No surprise halfway home I nearly fell over. The usual ringing in my head my vision tunneling, and I was suddenly cold. Kids don't do this at home.

I thought of sitting on a Parkway bench, but remembered that might be suicidal. They say keep walking keep you blood moving so you don't pass out. I made it home. 

I have a cure,...

Take a cold shower at once to lower your body temps. Drink plenty of water turn on the bleeping AC, and lay down till shit clears up,...it does in an hour or so. Imagine once when a lad I liked it hot. 

However back then the ocean wasn't rising the glaciers weren't melting, and it wasn't 100f degrees for months at a time. Oddly I'm still adjusting to the new climate. As a kid no one had to carry water with them, and heat shelters were in the Sahara desert not Brooklyn.

Anyway I didn't die.

Less Wars less Kids.

The planet is already in balance. This would just help the human part get with the program. Sure nothing's perfect evolution is always fucking up, but this is still a generally good idea.

So tax breaks, and assorted gifts, and prizes for being Queer or at least not compulsively child producing.  Mind you Queer won't be an oppressive law or shit. Just be reasonable for craps sakes.

As for Peter Pan.

Putting aside the original plot, and looking at the idea.

A magical flying boy. Like from a species of such with all the implications this has for humanity.

Their culture seems Anarcho based, but murderous violent at least on the individual level. Duels vendetta's, and such. Otherwise they seem more like Dolphins than Humans.

They prefer play to work.

We  share the same evolutionary branch. 

Odds are there are all manner of folks hanging from branches on our part of the tree. They stay out of our sight,...with good reason.

Anyway Peter a rather long lived 14 year old,...his species likely live up to 2000. Sort of like we used to do. Check the old testament the Torah or any other ancient text still hanging around.

He likes saving children. I read a Dark Horse comix book title back in the 90's about this. Peter saved kids from ethnic slaughters over the ages. This around the world. Natives from the Conquistadors Christian kids from the Romans Jews from the Nazis.

It's what he does.

As for me I'm Queer.

Though I'm generally nuts opinionated, and sometimes a danger to myself. I'm sweet,...mostly. Queers some of us love,...Love. We made really good hippies. A woman pal centuries ago said to me, "...Sidney you're in love with love,...be careful".
