"...and still I remember"

Me too. I'm posting this again, because I'm not sure you saw it. Free concert, Berkeley 1969:

This vid is quite meaningful to me, because there's a good chance that I was present. I went to most of the concerts in that park that Summer. Those shows are a wonderful memory to me.

It appears that the man dancing in uniform ("General Wastemoreland") is Jefferson Poland, founder of the Sexual Freedom League and the Psychedelic Venus Church. Today of course he's just a registered sex offender.

How superior that time was to all that has followed!

In the final minute of the vid, there's a young guy dancing in a skimpy leather vest that shows his bare midriff to good advantage. His hair is so long that he's easily mistaken for a girl, but he's not. He's really cute.

My values are hippie values. The flower children were where it's at. All that has since transpired socially, politically and economically - Reaganism, globalism, neoliberalism, obedience to consumerist imperatives - it is all pure unmitigated SHIT.

We may not be able to get the world we want; but I find it vital to remember what I value: peace, joy, love, and the rejection of everything that threatens to destroy our humanity.
