"...lost"

Last Tuesday I thought it was Sunday. Having become unstuck in time again. To be different. 'This' Sunday I thought,...'really' thought it was Tuesday.

I see a pattern developing.

Can you make that Time Machine a two-seater or three-seater? I want us to escape to some other historical epoch, like classical Greece or maybe some far future civilization, as far from the barbarism that surrounds us as we can get.

You wouldn't like the classical era. Too much like now. Slavery wars oppression bad food bad water. That's if you're rich.

Better to research a future Post-Fall community.

I'd say 400 to 600 years uptime is a good "when" to investigate. Might have to go to a very very distant era. 10k years plus uptime to find some when that's more like what we have in mind.

They'd know about our world enough to be fascinated by actual refugee barbarians from then. We should make a point of bringing artifacts with us. It's the simple things that tell the story of any era.

Flint, and stone knives tell us about 10k ago. I'd say ballpoint pens coins paper books assorted trinkets toys, and small electronics,...laptops with the Library of Congress some centuries of music TV crap movies, and such...porn plenty of that. I-phones windup watches books of matches should set us up nice 10k uptime.

They'd build a whole "Pre-Fall" museum around us, and our stuff.

The down side is that after we're debriefed they may kill us, and stuff us for exhibition. Unknown to either of us though this is a grand kindly advanced Utopia.
They consider gutting, and stuffing a great honor.

One they only bestow on their most admired.

So if we go I'd keep the motor running till we get the whole low-down on them freaks.

Another option is we could loop back to 1967-72 and stay there, choosing our geographic location with care. I feel I’ve seen enough of history, don’t really want to be in on what comes next, ‘cause the shape of things to come that one can dimly descry on the horizon looks suspiciously like a gigantic pile of steaming shit. The best slice of the past is the safest bet.

Otherwise, yeah - keep that motor running. I’d check out the future from curiosity, not some misplaced hope of utopias to come.

Thinking of the narrow window back in the late 1960's through early 1970's. One could go back not just for sanity, and safety.
Also to plant seeds, and warnings in the right places.

Take back certain technologies, and present them to the right people...I don't mean Huey Newton or even Abbie Hoffman.

More like Margaret Mead RFK Allen Watts, and others of the like. People of influence or even with actual power...esp. RFK.

Present them via lap top with the hell we allowed to happen, and point out it all started in their era. That they could have but did not stop it.

Impress on RFK he needs to stay alive, and the others their responsibility to the future.

Also we get to live in the heart of the greatest moment of possible positive in in 600 years. Btw this has the makings this thread for an interesting short story...one of Hope.
