It seems that the left despises Trump, reviles Trump, loathes Trump and regards him as as the unique embodiment and concentrated essence of everything that it despises, reviles and loathes - except when he does something violent to a foreign country, or expresses a desire to so do something violent. Then it approves of him. If he bombs Syria, he’s doing what a president should. If he threatens with intemperate war-mongering rhetoric to nuclearly incinerate a few million North Koreans, then he’s got the right idea. The left used to detest the war gaming domino-effect geopolitics of Henry Kissinger; now apparently it adores them.
I find this very odd. This is not the left that I once knew. We are truly in Looking Glass Land. We’re in totally uncharted territory here - unless we can find a comparable situation from prior history, which personally I can’t think of at the moment. There’s no way of knowing what will happen next, except that it will involve the next step downward for the nation.
