Well this is 60 years too late for me, and my age cohort. Back then physical assault against kids was very socially acceptable. Emotional violence wasn't given a second thought either. Kids were there to be used beaten fucked, and humiliated.
You even wonder why an Association for the Prevention of Cruelty to not only Animals, but 'Children' was, and is necessary? I'm 67, but I still see the raging contorted faces of teachers as they slammed me against the chalk boards, and beat the crap out of me.
Today they'd be arrested...then all in a days work.
