"...rebellion"

We need very little materially for a 21st century civilized life. A secure home food health care intellectual spiritual artistic outlets access to nature. This, and Digital connections seems enough. However these once basic things are becoming only for the near wealthy, and wealthy.

This way leads to rebellion.

One that has already started with the mis-guided cry of white underclass despair which led to the rise of #45.

There will be cries from other marginalized disposed of communities presently. Then as has been said, "...the fat will be in the fire".

It’s not that hard to provide for people’s needs. We still could, even though the economy has shrunk considerably. The problem is too many rich people.

I’ve followed the blogs of a couple of historians for years. From them I learn that this is a typical feature of civilizational decline: out of the total population, an increasing percentage of millionaires sucks wealth upward, leaving less of the ever-shrinking pie for those below them. This phenomenon has a name: “elite overproduction.”

So much for the “trickle down” theory, which of course we always knew was BS. That’s klepto-capitalism for you. Milton Friedman and his admirers should have been beaten with hoses and thrown on a dung heap, then publicly ridiculed in a pillory and made to eat horse apples. But instead we worship them.

Some of the wealthy know what time it is.
They're making preparations for the time when their lives won't be worth a fart in a Cat-5 Blizzard. This won't work never does.

They'll mostly pay for their excesses.
Well their children, and grandchildren will.

Our kids will pay as well with rising oceans famines vast droughts wars mass population movement, and all the assorted effects of that "excess".
